FOUNDER: Dr. Janice Dutcher
Dr. Janice Dutcher is a medical oncologist and is also a professor of medicine at New York Medical College. She is the Associate Director for Clinical Affairs at Our Lady of Mercy Cancer Center in the Bronx. Dr.Dutcher has published more than 250 manuscripts and book chapters in the medical literature on clinical research in cancer. Dr. Dutcher is a founding member of a clinical research group, which was initially funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to study the action and activity of Interleukin-2 and other cytokines. Dr. Dutcher directs the clinical research program for Renal Cell Cancer (Kidney Cancer) and Melanoma at Our Lady of Mercy Cancer Center. She is currently establishing a tissue bank as a basis for collaborative studies.
FOUNDER: Dr. Peter H Wiernik
Dr. Peter H Wiernik is the Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center located in the Bronx N.Y. He is also a Professor of Medicine and Radiation Oncology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. Dr. Wiernik has spent his career treating, teaching, researching and publishing his findings about hematology and oncology, with a special interest in hematological malignancies. He has developed new treatments for leukemia and lymphoma that have produced cures in some patients. He has studied every new drug available for hematological malignancies. Dr. Wiernik has trained the next generation of clinical researchers in oncology.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mary Meyer is the Executive Director of the Cancer Research Foundation. Mary became active with the Cancer Research Foundation after her husband was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma, (Kidney Cancer). Mary raised over $200,000 for the Cancer Research Foundation. Because there is very little funding for kidney cancer she is trying to formally establish the Cancer Research Foundation, and raise funding to further both Dr. Dutcher and Dr. Wiernik's research. Mary has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from St. Johns University.
